MASTER COMICS #27 (1942)

This must surely be the granddaddy of all the patriotic covers produced during WWII. Simple and elegant, the repeated motif of the "V for Victory" symbol, and the startling angles (Marvel Junior's open stance, arm splayed to the side, cape fluttering in the wind), make this a truly dynamic composition. The competing colors (red, white and blue, plus the superb contrast of yellow on that gorgeous logo) divide the picture into sections and help draw your eye down the V symbol, directly to Junior's beautifully lit figure. Raboy is one of comics' undisputed masters of cover design, and this proves it in spades!
